While our efforts are driven by our organization’s singular focus, we spread a wide net by investing in a variety of progressive strategies. ASHA CHILDREN HOME

In the year 2011, we established 3 Seasonal hostels in Ranchi, Saraikela and Khunti district of Jharkhand where approx. 200 children stay. It enables children to stay in the village and attend the local school. While separating children from their parents who migrate to other states to work in brick kilns is not desirable, but this helps prevent them from the unacceptable levels of distress at brick kilns, where they used to work as child labor along with their parents. Each seasonal hostel is residential with basic amenities. Children are enrolled in nearby government schools to help them to continue their formal education and are provided with proper food, clothing and education.

WITCH HUNTING

Although the very concept of witchcraft or witch hunting sounds absurd in this hi-tech age, its incremental spread has been truly appalling. The objectives behind the project is to motivate, aware, sensitized and strengthen the community, the Panchayats, the Block and District level police and government services for implementing the witchcraft prevention act for the protection of women against this dreadful violence.

TRAFFICKING & UNSAFE MIGRATION

The Sakhi Saheli Group consist of 4000 adolescent girls and provides the advantage to the local tribal adolescent girls to discuss their queries and make themselves much more aware in the fields like trafficking, unsafe migration, women exploitation, their legal rights, sexual exploitation, livelihood opportunities and importance of education in their lives. They even have a football team which has won several local tournaments.

CHILD MARRIAGE

ASHA have rescued more than 150 girls form child marriage in the tribal belt of Jharkhand. ASHA is not only providing shelter homes to these girl children but also channelizing their potentials into a positive direction. The organisation has faced many challenges to stop the child marriages, although girls who all are in ASHA Shelter since the past 7 years are equally vulnerable when they go back to their homes.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

ASHA is continuously working against women violence and exploitation for their upliftment and empowerment .The strategies like Women groups formation and strengthening, leadership development, involving women in decision making process, improving accessibility to better health & education, and fighting with social evils of the society like child marriage, domestic violence, witch craft, dowry, alcoholism, etc

ORGANIC FARMING

ASHA have been taking initiative in uplifting the unemployed sectors of rural areas. We are doing this by giving training on Organic farming, so that they can grow vegetables without use of artificial fertilizers which contains certain chemicals. These vegetables may be used for daily consumption or they may sell them to earn money. We also provide them with organic seeds, fertilizers and keep them updated with modern farming techniques.
